Jetstar in Qantas Asian expansion

Jetstar Asia & Valuair

Qantas is moving to extend its reach into Asia by code-sharing with its partly owned Jetstar Asia, reports the Australian. Qantas has applied to the International Air Services Commission to start code-share arrangements with Jetstar Asia to India and Thailand. Qantas plans to code-share on Jetstar Asia’s three weekly Singapore Kolkata services, connecting with mainline flights in Singapore. In Thailand, Qantas plans to code-share on Jetstar Asia’s services to Phuket and certain services to Bangkok.
The two airlines last week announced a raft of new services to Indonesia and India, adding to existing destinations such as Hong Kong, Manila and Taipei. The two airlines are eventually expected to operate under one brand but access agreements mean the two are currently better served flying separately. Qantas would also continue to look for destinations to Asia in its own right
