Budget market expands in Vietnam

Thanh Nien News reports tat both Tiger Airways and Thai AirAsia are pursuing expansion plans within Vietnam. After nearly a year, Tiger Airways has launched direct service between Singapore and the three largest cities of Vietnam: Hanoi, Saigon and Danang with three flights a week on each route. Starting in mid-December, the carrier will fly every day between Saigon and Singapore. It also and has designs on setting up branches in Hanoi and Saigon to launch links from Hanoi to provinces in southern China, Taiwan and Macau. Meanwhile, Thai AirAsia wants to cash in on the increasingly lucrative route between Bangkok and Hanoi, with the airline planning to expand route frequencies in the near future.
