Thai goverment to keep an eye on low-cost airlines
The Thai Transport Ministry is planning to tighten aviation regulations governing low-cost airlines, in order to raise the quality of the airline industry and boost the country’s chance of becoming a regional aviation hub says Tuesday’s ThaiDay. Transport Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisal said his ministry has been prompted to impose stricter regulations by customer complaints about the service quality and concerns about the safety standards of budget airlines. This is seen as a response to mounting complaints about the quality of their services, most notably about unannounced delays and cancellations. How the ministry plans to “keep an eye” on the industry is as yet unclear.
