Singapore to Hanoi for S$8.88 — roaaar!!…NOT!
Tiger Airways have announced their latest block of Chinese New Year hot specials. Buy your ticket between January 26 and January 31 for travel between July 1, 2006 and September 30, 2006 and you can fly from Singapore to Da Nang, Hanoi, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuket, Macau, Manila (Clark) and Padang for as little as S$8.88. Not a bad deal if you can actually get a ticket at that price.
Well, I just tried to book a ticket to Hanoi and back, got all the way through no problems (BTW it works out at just over S$100 for a return ticket once you include all the extras) entered my credit card details, pushed submit … ooopssss! some error on Tiger’s site. Some questions spring to mind:
Has my card been charged? I don’t know.
Has my booking been received? I don’t know.
Is there an email contact on the Tiger site I can contact to find out? NO!
Is there a local telephone number for me to call? No!
I am a satisfied customer? NOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYYYY!
I am required to make an international phone call to tell them their website doesn’t work.
The call will probably cost more than the flight.
It’s called email people — would be quite a technological advance for your organisation to adopt it.
Oh well, too bad, now where is that AirAsia website again…
update
Fool I am, I just spent 10 minutes on hold at IDD rates. Gave up. Guess I’ll wait for the card statement.

[...] However when I click on the link in the email, I just get taken to their homepage pushing a promo to Darwin — I don’t want to go to Darwin! what happened to the stunning beaches of Krabi? Notch it up as another gem from the Tiger Airways website — lets just hope their pilots are more able than the website. [...]
