AirAsia continues to grow
AviationWeek reports that AirAsia plans to buy 100 more A320s as it moves to set up a long-haul no frills affiliate — AirAsia X, which aims to start services in July. CEO Tony Fernandes says the opportunity to establish AirAsia X has arisen partly because “Kuala Lumpur lacks a really good international network.” The airline is planning to start with promotional return fares of $40 to London. More tellingly, the top fare will be around $400, Fernandes says, and about 90% of seats will be sold for less than that.
