Tiger applies to start airline in Australia
Bloomberg reports that Tiger Airways has applied to start a low-fare airline in Australia to compete with Virgin Blue and Qantas. An application for an Australian Air Operator’s Certificate is being made after the plans were outlined to Australian government ministers Thursday, Tiger said in a statement Friday. CEO Tony Davis said getting permission to fly will take several months, with the first flights targeted before the end of 2007.
