EU bans all Indonesian carriers

General news, Other Airlines

ATW Online reports that the European Commission has banned all 51 registered Indonesian carriers from operating into the EU. While no Indonesian airlines currently fly to EU member states, an EU spokesperson warned that “European citisens should avoid flying with these carriers. They are really unsafe”.

It’s not clear how this ban will affect AirAsia and Jetstar both of which run local operations (AirAsia Indonesia, formerly AWAir, and Valuair respectively) in Indonesia.
