Nok rethinks plans

Nok Air

The Bangkok Post reports that Nok Air is taking a look at its overall business plan as its aggressive growth strategy may not bring out the desired results. Spiking fuel prices, cut-throat competition, oversupply of aircraft seats, the entry of new competitors and a costly lesson from its first overseas flight between Bangkok and Bangalore have all caused the airline to reassess its direction. ”We think we have rushed a bit too much in the past six months, and we need to now take stock, cool down and become more cautious in what we do next,” Nok Air CE Patee Sarasin said. Patee indicated that the airline’s strategic plan could be radically revamped, from plans to expand overseas flights to beefing up its workforce to switching to new fuel-efficient and more capable jetliners.
