Singapore-based Tiger Airways is 49% owned by Singapore Airlines and was established in December 2003, with the first flight in September 2004. Aiming to fly to destinations within a four hour flight time of Singapore, the airline’s fleet of new Airbus A320 aircraft serves more than 25 destinations in eight countries in the Asia Pacific from it’s main hub at Changi Airport, Sinagpore.
In June 2007, Tiger ordered 50 new Airbus A320s to grow its fleet to 70 Airbus aircraft, making it one of the region’s larger low fare airlines. Also in 2007 the airline expanded into Australia, establishing a hub out of Melbourne in the southern state of Victoria.
